This is from Martha Bustos in Colombia.
Last month a woman came to the church during consultation, she was crying, “at this moment I don’t have pain in my body but my heart, because a Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC-EP) group came to our little farm, and threatened with guns. They took our farm, but we left with our 4 children and lost everything.” Now we are here without food and without work in this new and difficult city. She was very sad and I knew that she needed somebody to listen to her. I then stopped my consultation and I started to listen and talk with her about God’s plans, we talked for quite sometime and afterwards she felt better. I then introduced her to the pastor, he and his wife helped her and her family by giving food and spiritual support; the same week we had her, her husband and the 4 children at Sunday morning services, I felt a great sense of accomplishment when I saw how calm and different she looked.
Today I can tell you that by the God’s amazing grace they accepted Jesus Christ and were baptized last Sunday morning at the church.
The following good news just in from Matt Crosser in Italy:
“Rejoice with us! Maurizio is going to be baptized on Sunday!!!!!! Our prayers have been answered. Our hearts are filled with joy and excitement.”
Remember praying for Maurizio yesterday? God hears and answers our prayers!
I know you’re always asking for stories about how God is answering
prayer…so I just thought I’d share this with you.
When it came time for Mob Squad to start picking where they wanted to
lead a team for the summer, to be honest, I was not thrilled with the
selections. What I orginally had wanted, North Africa, decided to
withdrawl their decision to take an team of interns. I then wanted to
lead a trip to Central Asia, but then that team decided not to take
any females. Working with Muslim women is my passion, so I was a
little bummed, to say the least, when I found out that was not going
to be an option for me this summer. So from the rest of the choices,
Romania was the only one in which I had interest. Well, guess what?
They decided that they needed no coach! There was no where else on the
list that caught my interest, and I found myself feeling sorry for
myself and discouraged that God wasn’t opening doors to the places “I
knew” I was supposed to go. I then prayed for more guidance…and
Poland was the place that caught my eye. I wasn’t thrilled with it,
because like I said, I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn’t
go where I wanted to go. But then at a workshop at the missionary
convention, my feelings started to change. I went to the workshop that
Jay and Colette were leading and I instantly fell in love with them. I
talked to Nick and Christal Haner who I already knew from collge, and
they were thrilled that I was the one who was going to be the coach.
Then, that night at the convention…just hours after I found out I
was going to be leading that team, I was asked to be a prayer
counselor for people making decisions. One girl, named Lindsey,
decided to walk up because she could see me…and I was the only one
not praying with somebody already. I found out she was needing to do
an internship this summer in order to graduate. I asked her if she had
thought about where and with what organization, and she said, “Well,
I’m pretty sure I’m going to go to Poland with Team Expansion. They
have a coffee shop there…I work at starbucks, plus, I’m Polish.”
WOW!! Talk about Divine Intervention!!! (She actually just became my
1st officially accepted intern!!!) Then came my back problem…I was
worried that this was going to hinder my trip seeing as how I couldn’t
even move…and I started pleading with God, “You’ve answered my
prayers so clearly up to this point…You led me here to Team
Expansion, you led me to the Mob Squad…I NEED to be on this
trip…it’s my job, my ministry…why would You lead me here if it’s
not even going to work out?” Then he told me not to worry…that He
knows the number of hairs on my head. That he cares for the sparrow,
and I am worth far more than many, many sparrows. And He provided me
with an incredible chiropractor who is also a believer, and is helping
me out with finances, and who understands that he is not the one
healing me…but God is healing me through his hands. And he’s
convinced that I’ll be able to make the trip. And on top of
that…Christal Haner has the same back problem that I do. I e-mailed
her about a chiropractor there in Poland. She said that she has an
amazing chiropractor who is also a Christian and speaks perfect
English and she actally already has an appointment set up for me…
And just think. I didn’t even want to go to Poland.
It seems that almost every day, there is another story, another
person, another reason that it is clear that this is where God wants
me to be this summer. He can speak to you in the places where you’re
least likely expecting it…like, through a painful back problem. Just
goes to show that He really is our protector and our provider, even
when it may seem like he’s shutting doors. At 1st I was selfish and
wanted to go where I wanted to go. But now I see that this really is
where He wants me…at least for now, and I couldn’t be happier!!
Well, I’m sorry it’s so long, but I really just wanted to share that
with you… I hope you find it encouraging!! Thanks!
Thanks for your prayers for our mission trip to the island nation of “Q-bah”. We had absolutely no problems with enterring or leaving the country, nor with any part of the mission that we needed to accomplish. Thank God! We met with the preachers from 25 house churches, and we were priviledged to meet together with 5 different congregations in the 5 days that we were there. My friends Steve and Tim were a great encouragement to the brothers and also came back with a great vision for the work there. One of the highlights was when 9 people were added to the family on a Saturday morning in a countryside bay.
One of our Knee Soldiers wrote:
We have had two prayers answered in the past two weeks that were on my
prayer list that I gave you at the beginning of the year. Praise the Lord!1) Jacob was offered a full time fire fighting position with Floyds Knob,
Indiana!
2) Sara and Kevin sold their house in Lexington yesterday!
God is so awesome, powerful and full of grace…thank everyone for praying
for my family…..
Shirley Thompson wrote the following about answers to yesterday’s prayers for her husband and her:
“Wow! What an answer to prayer. Today the 14th we had a key deal finally agreed that will help establish Philip’s business. Another seller confirmed a meeting for tomorrow to discuss a further substantial opportunity. You see, we are trying to become ‘Tentmakers’ to supplement our support. The cost-of-living has been raising steeply for the last 7 years with no sign of stopping. Dublin is now one of the most expensive cities in Europe. Our support has shrunk in value to less than a third of what we need. So, investing all our personal savings, Philip has become a self-employed real estate agent. He loves it. And enjoys freely sharing his faith with his clients. He has never had so many opportunities to witness!
Today was also our 5th annual W.I.N.G.S.(Women Inspiring and Nurturing Growth Spiritually) Christmas party. 16 attended including 2 visitors, And another lady, observing us at the cafe, asked information to come along in January. PTL! Thank you for all your prayers!!”
“I just wanted to write you a quick praise! (Probably the shortest e-mail you’ll get from me
)
No joke, the day after I sent out the last prayer request I recieved an e-mail from a church that had given me a one time gift asking if I could use another. They are sending me $1,000! Thanks be to God for His constant provision! I also recieved a check in the mail from a friend of mine in Texas. God is providing and I am confident that He will continue to provide through the amount needed still. Also, my Grandma is able to leave the hospital tomorrow. She is doing well enough to go home, though she will have to still have IVs in her for a while. But she finally gets to leave the hospital. Thank you so much for your constant prayers and encouragement! I just wanted to share what your prayers are doing
Isn’t it wonderful that we have a God who cares so much about us that He listens to our prayers and is so intimately involved in our lives?”
This message was received from Tiffany even before you received today’s Tactical Briefing. See requests in the post below to see how God was answering even before we prayed!
As I have started to pray and think about my preparation for the field,
obviously much of my thought has turned to finishing the work of support
raising. Well, in the mail today was a check from my home church for $2000
to help cover any expense for training. It might even help cover some
airfare and start-up costs as well! Additionally, out of the blue, there
was a check from a couple who wants to start supporting me monthly. I see
these things surely as a blessing and confirmation of prayers. Thank you
for diligent reminder of this each day, how much God answers out
prayers…It kind of gives me goose bumps to think it’s a
not-so-coincidental coincidence that all of these things happen on the day
the Prayer Force is praying for me.
How effective were your prayers for DC yesterday! Not only did he receive a confirmation on field placement, but he also received sufficient funds in one check to pay for pre-field training at MTI or CIT. Praise God for hearing and answering our prayers in very specific ways!
