A Time To Be Thankful
Dear Friends,
As we approach the special time of Thanksgiving in our land I wanted to share some of the things for which I am thankful for this year.
1) God’s Mercy and Grace.
His mercy is new every morning and yet it never ceases to amaze me. Nothing is more important than our relationship with God, who is our Strength and Hope. For that I am exceedingly thankful.

2) My precious family.
and I will celebrate 27 years of marriage next month! She is such a blessing and a wonderful mom to Tyler, Emily and Abbey. I give thanks to God for them!
My Mom is doing well and adjusting to her new home near by brother’s house in Joplin. We talk all the time and she continues to be a huge blessing. My brother Rick and sister Cindi are both in full-time ministry and I am thankful for their friendship and encouragement.

3) The opportunity of ministry to the Hispanic community.
I’m so thankful for the privilege of working with my teammates– Danny, Shani, Mike and Tara. In the Nueva Vida church we are blessed with a precious international flock of people from 12 different Spanish-speaking countries. I’m thankful to be able to help lead in the area of worship and look forward to the day when the church will be completely self-supporting. I am thankful for our latest church plant effort in the Louisville area at the Fern Creek area of Louisville. I’m thankful for the opportunity of doing medical outreaches to the Hispanic community and the opportunity to minister each week at the free Christian medical clinic in Shelbyville. Finally I’m thankful for our supporters and prayer partners who make our ministry possible.

4)  The opportunity to prepare myself for medical ministry to the Hispanic and underserved communities. I’m thankful for my family and team-mates who are supporting my efforts to return to school. This semester I am taking Medical Terminology and Biology and enjoying the classes and the challenge. It will be a long journey at this rate, but I look forward to being able serve the Lord with this added tool in my tool belt.

5) Team Expansion Family
Finally I am thankful for the mission agency with which I serve, Team Expansion. We recently turned 30 years old.

Our founder and president, Doug Lucas, recently wrote the following note to you, our supporters:

It was October, 1978, when I gathered with 7 other guys in a dorm room at the bible college I was attending. I remember the excitement of praying corporately for Uruguay, the country in South America we hoped to tackle first. But I also recall the sobering reality that, one by one, each of those 7 guys became interested in other goals. Still, the Lord was faithful. As Penny & I prayed, God soon raised up others and the rest, as they say, is history. Established in a prayer meeting, seemingly nothing could snuff out the fire we felt in our calling. Still today, prayer strengthens the calling and daily ministry of over 300 full-time workers in 42 lands. While the financial gift you send toward the work of your favorite Team Expansion missionary is essential, the moments you pause to pray for our work are spiritually empowering. And because of your partnership, new believers — thousands of them — pause to give praise for new life in Christ. Those are the birthdays that matter. Thank you for helping make them possible. God bless you.

Baby Dedication Fall 2008

Baby Dedication at Nueva Vida – Fall 2008

We dedicated 7 babies to the Lord and prayed and encouraged their parents to raise them in the discipline and knowledge of God. What a great day! Afterwards we enjoyed cake and fellowship.

Prayer Pointers for November 2008

Praise God for His gracious work in our hearts and lives. Pray that He would continue to do mighty things with the Hispanic ministry in Louisville. Specifically, please pray for the following needs:
Nueva Vida Congregation:
1. For Nueva Vida’s two new elders and their wives, James & Martha and Alfonso & Alba. Pray for wisdom, patience, continued humility and service spirits and victory when the enemy attempts to discourage.
2. For God’s will to be done in regards to future building usage.
3. For our youth ministry in the Hispanic community and efforts to partner with English speaking churches to help us disciple the youth and young adults.
Fern Creek Outreach
1. For faithfulness with those that have started meeting with us.
2. For spiritual hunger and desire to follow through with God’s offer of salvation.
3. For new contacts from the English Class we are offering and that those contacts would come back to our weekly Bible study/worship time.

Thank you for your prayers and financial gifts in October that enable us to serve with the Hispanic Ministry. We are deeply grateful and give praise to God for each of you!
