Community Medical Outreach!

Dear Friends
The Lord blessed us with another great day of service to the Hispanic community of Louisville on March 7th. We partnered again with Nueva Vida Christian Church and Fern Creek Christian Church along with numerous partner organizations:

● Southeast Christian Church’s LifeBridge ministry provided a ton of donated clothes and toys
● Brown Cancer Institute sent their million dollar mobile cancer screening van
● Mercy Medical Clinic (our partner clinic in Shelbyville KY) provided two Nurse Practitioners and supplies
● Local doctors, nurses and other volunteers provided excellent care and screenings (medical, dental and vision)
● Fellow Team Expansion missionaries and others provided Spanish interpretation and pastoral care – each person was prayed for in addition to the help they received.
● Members of Nueva Vida and Fern Creek Christian helped out with cooking and serving a free meal and refreshments, organizing the donated clothes, clowning, a children’s program, setup and cleanup. It truly was a beautiful day – literally and figuratively.

Once again it was a privilege to be a part of the body of Christ as each member did its part to glorify God by blessing others in the name of Jesus!

Members of Nueva Vida conduct the registration.

Nurses and interpreters obtain necessary info for the doctors (vital signs,

blood glucose level, health history, and vision test in the triage area.

Patients then wait to see the dentist or one of the doctors.

Family News
● Tyler, 21 years old, recently moved to an apartment he is sharing with his long-time friend Scott. They met the second day we moved to Louisville at a Vacation Bible School at Southeast Christian Church when they were entering the 5th grade! He continues to work for an electrician.
● Emily, 16 years old, is a sophomore and continues to be a light in her school. She has a passion for sharing Christ with her friends and is a straight- A student. She likes to get help from her dad for her Chemistry and Spanish classes.
● Abbey, 11 years old, keeps us active as we try to keep up with her. She is a wonderful student and this week, she starts practicing with the girl’s Middle School golf team. That should be fun!

 Prayer Pointers
● Praise the Lord for the success of the March 2009 medical clinic. Let’s pray that we will see spiritual fruit and transformed lives grow out of the efforts in Christ’s name.
● You’ve been praying about Nueva Vida’s need for finding a new location for our Sunday services. I’m happy to report that God provided an open door for Nueva Vida. An American church near to our current location has agreed to become Nueva Vida’s strategic partner in reaching the Hispanic community in Northeastern Louisville. It’s a church called “New Life!” The amazing thing is that is what Nueva Vida means in Spanish. We will begin Sunday services in their gymnasium in April. Please pray for the transition to the new location and for this new partnership.
● I’m also happy to report that a very talented and Godly family has come to Louisville to help our worship team. Rafael and Astrid Barake are originally from Colombia and have been trained professionally in a school of music. They began this week to help our church reach its vision of “Raising Up True Worshippers.”
● I leave tomorrow on what has become my annual spring-break trip to Mexico. Once again I will serve as interpreter and pastoral counselor for a group of doctors and Physician Assistant students from the University to Kentucky who will be reaching out to the community of Piedras Negras, Mexico. Please pray for God’s protection and blessing on these efforts to share God’s love in a practical way.
● Thank you for praying for my medical pre-requisite classes. I am studying harder than I ever have – and making good progress with the College Algebra and Chemistry classes. Please keep praying!

Diane and I are deeply grateful for your prayers and support. May God bless you!
