Summer At the Bushnells!
Dear Friends
The kids are very happy to be in summer break. My short break from classes has ended I am in Chemistry II and lab. In May I was able to make a short visit to Joplin MO to see my mom and brother’s family while Abbey spent a few days at the lake with my nephew’s family. Abbey and my nephew Wayne’s oldest daughter are both 11 years old – born one day apart in 1997. My mom, I’m happy to report, is doing fantastic. She is enjoying her condo, her new friends and church family and being near my brother’s family. Of course she misses her friends in Enid, but she has adapted extremely well.
Diane reminded me, as she was in the midst of picking up one daughter, dropping her off at another location, then picking up the other daughter, and dropping her off somewhere, though her job as a substitute teacher takes a breather, her job as full-time chauffeur, activities coordinator, nutritionist, personal shopper, clothing care expert, etc… gets no “summer break.”
Emily is working mornings at our church this summer as a child-care provider, she is also practicing with the volleyball team in the afternoons, doing a summer youth Bible study, preparing for her high school mission trip to the Dominican Republic, serving as a volunteer in our church’s disabilities ministry as well as a disabilities camp.
Abbey is going to our church’s summer camp for middle schoolers, attending a summer tennis clinic, a school volleyball camp and enjoying time at her friends’ pools, etc.
Tyler, living on his own now, continues his work with an electrical company and as a part-time pizza deliverer. He surprised Diane and me on our shared birthday last week with an outing to a nice Italian restaurant. We had a great time and enjoyed being treated by our son. I guess we raised him right :).

Fern Creek Hispanic Ministry– Summer Plans
Our Wednesday night worship/study time continues throughout the summer for the Hispanic community in the Fern Creek area of Louisville. We will be participating with Fern Creek’s area picnic this month and conducting another large scale medical clinic for Hispanic families on August 1st.

Nueva Vida – Celebrating With the Angels!
It was a joy to be with the Nueva Vida congregation this past Sunday to witness the baptisms of 5 people with whom we have been working with for the past year. Pastor Daniel baptized Fausto and Margarita (from Mexico), along with Nelson & Teresita and their daughter Lisuan (from Cuba). It is always a huge blessing and encouragement to see the seeds that have been planted and watered with Christ’s love to bear fruit in new life!

Financial Update
We give thanks to God for another month of His bountiful provision through you, our supporters. A couple of very generous donations along with our regular monthly support allowed us to not only make expenses in May, we were able to cut the deficit in our General fund to just under $-900. Also, in response to my comment that we had suspended our $200 monthly retirement contribution in order to cut back on expenses, one of our long-time supporters sent an additional $200 and a note saying they would continue to send that amount in order for us to continue the monthly contribution. So, starting with next month’s report you’ll again see the $200 retirement contribution (line 140 on the expense report)!  Thank you so much for your prayers and generous gifts. We continue to seek your prayers for wisdom and for God’s leading as we face the ongoing challenge of meeting our budget this year.

Prayer Pointers for June 2009
l Praise God for God’s blessings to our family and allowing us continue to minister with Team Expansion.
l Praise God for the public decisions for Christ by the two families (Fausto, Margarita, Nelson, Teresita and Lisuan).
l Please pray for Eleazar, the infant son of Luis and Cecilia, who attend our Fern Creek Hispanic church. Cecilia and her two boys recently returned to El Salvador while Luis remains in the US to work. Eleazar recently began having convulsions. The doctors in El Salvador will be running tests next week.
l Please pray for wisdom to discern God’s leading, and the grace and strength to follow Him, with respect to my schooling, the Hispanic ministry, and providing for my family.

May God bless you!
In Christian love,

Chris & family
