Chemistry on the Brain
Dear Friends
I decided to take an intensive summer chemistry course in order to speed the process a little of finishing the pre-requisites for applying to Physician Assistant school. I’m so grateful to my teammates on the Louisville Hispanic team who continue to give me their blessing and encouragement. The class meets Monday thru Thursday mornings, with lab on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. It is a semester of material in just 2 months, so we are moving at a fast pace through the text book. It is intensive and demanding, but I am enjoying it. God has been gracious to me in allowing me to understand the concepts and do well on the exams. Another blessing has been the friendships I’m making with international students in my class, who come from such places as Congo, Nepal, Iran, Korea, Vietnam, Nigeria, Ecuador and India. I have had the opportunity to share the gospel with one of them recently. I am praying that I can be a light to them.

Preaching at Nueva Vida
I had the blessing of preaching at Nueva Vida in June. It was a joy for me to be with my precious family in Christ at Nueva Vida. The church is doing fantastic and is truly blessed in their new home. The leadership is encouraged and the Holy Spirit continues to change lives there.

Fern Creek Work Growing
It’s been a good summer with the Fern Creek Hispanic ministry. Several of our families participated in Fern Creek Christian Church’s Vacation Bible School and we’ve had a number of visitors to our Wednesday evening fellowship time and Bible study for Spanish speakers. We’ve been encouraged by all this considering the challenges that the summer months can bring to church planting efforts. I continue to lead worship with the Fern Creek group.

We are gearing up for our next medical clinic that will take place on Saturday, August 1st at the Fern Creek building. Please join us in praying that God uses this event to bless many lives, allowing us to plant spiritual seeds that will result in a harvest for the church planting efforts.

Please pray that the August 1st medical clinic at Fern Creek touches many lives in Jesus’ name.

Family Update
We celebrated Emily’s 17th birthday in June. Can you believe that?! She starts volleyball this week with the high school team. She is praying that God allows her to make the team, blesses her season, and allows her to a light for Christ to her teammates.  She is working in the childcare ministry at Southeast Christian Church, and leaves for a missions trip with the Southeast youth ministry to the Dominican Republic on July 21st.
Abbey will be a middle-schooler this year! She starts volleyball camp next week, and has already enjoyed a week of church camp and 2 tennis clinics.

June Financial Report
We were blessed in June with some sacrificial donations above and beyond our normal monthly support that came to us from Calvary Christian Church in Omaha, NE and from a couple of our individual supporters. Another long-time supporter wrote me and told me he and his wife wanted to increase their monthly support by $200 so that we could re-instate monthly retirement contribution of $200.  I had informed you a couple of months ago that I had stopped those contributions in an effort to help meet our monthly budget. We are so grateful for this help and lift our hearts in praise to God for all of you and your partnership in our lives.

Prayer Pointers for July 2009
l Please pray for my chemistry class – that I can finish strong and maintain a high GPA to increase my chances for Physician Assistant School. Last day of class is Aug 5th.
l Pray for opportunities to share Christ’s love with my classmates, especially the international students.
l Please pray for Emily’s trip to the Dominican Republic – July 21-28. The kids will be ministering with GO Ministries who are reaching families who make their living by scouring the local dump.
l Please pray that God uses the upcoming medical clinic on August 1 to bring people to us who not only have physical needs, but who are open to spiritual healing as well. Pray that the Hispanic church plant at Fern Creek truly takes root in 2009.
l Praise God for His provision in June and for His continued leading as we continue on our journey of faith.
