Update on the Ministry
Dear Friends,
As you know I am currently in an “Educational Furlough” with Team Expansion. I am taking a full load of classes this semester as I finish up science prerequisites for applying to Physician Assistant School. After this semester I will just lack 3 classes to finish the prerequisites. The classes are difficult and demanding but by God’s grace I have been able to keep up.

In addition to the class work I continue to help out the new Hispanic church plant in the Fern Creek area of the city and serving a few days a month in the Christian medical clinic in Shelbyville as a Spanish interpreter and pastoral counselor.

Also in September I officiated in the wedding of a longtime Nueva Vida Christian Church member. Deisy is from El Salvador and her new husband, Aaron, is from Paraguay. It was a large wedding and I enjoyed meeting their family and friends who came from Central and South America, as well as Houston, Los Angeles and others who live here.

Update on the Family
The past 2 months have been a busy time for our girls because of volleyball season. Emily (a junior in high school) plays on the varsity and junior varsity teams at Eastern High School. Emily wears number 1, lower right in the picture. Emily is a setter for the team.

Here’s a picture of her actually setting the volleyball.

Emily’s varsity team won the District championship game two nights ago and they will play in the first round of regional competition next week.

Abbey is in 6th grade and plays for Whitefield Academy’s middle school volleyball team. Their season ended last weekend when they won their season ending tournament. Here is a picture of their team with the trophy.
Abbey is number 11, directly behind the trophy.

Update on the Finances
We are so grateful for God’s gracious provision to us. In September some special friends helped with generous donations on top of those who are giving monthly and we finished September in better shape than the previous month. There is still a deficit and our current monthly support is well below what we know we have to spend each month. After I finish this semester of classes I plan to just take one class per semester for the next 3 semesters and seek ways to supplement our monthly support. If God wills, I will be able to enter PA school in May of 2012, which will take 27 months to complete.

Please pray with us for God’s wisdom and leading through all this. Thanks so much for partnering with us on this journey. May God be glorified in each of us!

Prayer Pointers
l Praise God with me for the opportunity to go back to school. I am deeply grateful for this opportunity. Please pray for me to succeed as I take 13 hours (Biology II and lab, Microbiology and lab, and Developmental Psychology).
l  Praise God with us for the blessing of raising Tyler, Emily and Abbey. Diane is such a great mom to them. This past week Emily caught the flu (probably H1N1). She was sick for about 5 days but is now completely back.
l  Praise God for the opportunity to share God’s Word and His holy will for us in the wedding ceremony of Deisy and Aaron. Pray that their lives and marriage would bring glory to Christ.
l Praise God for the ministry of Mercy Medical clinic in Shelbyville and all the volunteers who serve there every week. Pray that those who recently made commitments to Christ would remain faithful and connect to a local church.
l Please join us in praying for God’s guidance and provision for our family as we go through this time of educational furlough and transition. We are trusting in God’s promises to never leave us and to provide for His own (But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well – Mat. 6:33).
