Thankful Thoughts
Dear Friends,

Happy Thanksgiving 2010!

I’m thankful for God’s grace, first and foremost. Words alone can’t express the significance of being loved by God – and loving Him in return. Because of His loving-kindness every day is Thanksgiving for his children.

I’m thankful for my sweet wife and amazing kids. They provide so much joy and encouragement. It’s a huge honor to have them in my life.

I’m thankful for Team Expansion. It has been a privilege to put my hand to the plow with such people of faith and passion. We are in our 19th year with Team Expansion. I’m grateful for their grace in loaning me to the ministry of Mercy Medical while I continue my studies for future medical ministry.

I’m thankful for my family and their Godly heritage. We are planning a short trip to Joplin, Missouri on Thanksgiving weekend to see my mother, brother and his family. All four of my brother’s sons will be in town along with their wives and children. Two of my nephews have wives who are expecting (one in January and the other in February).

We’ll miss seeing my sister and her family. But, I’m so thankful for her compassionate heart and example. Cindi and her husband, Freddy, minister to hardcore bikers, prisoners, and others who are often on the fringes of society. Many of those who are coming to faith in Christ through their efforts would have unlikely been reached by a traditional ministry.

I’m thankful for you! Without your encouragement, prayers and donations to Team Expansion I would not be here. Thank you!

Dr. Hines – A Faithful Servant

 Dr. Hines

I am thankful for all the volunteers at Mercy Medical who give of their time and talents. Dr. John Hines (pictured above) retired from family practice in 2008. But he has not slowed down. He spends every Tuesday afternoon seeing patients at our clinic. He puts his many years of experience to work and truly cares about each person. He loves to talk to his patients about going to church and how his life has been changed by the power of God. When he’s not serving in our clinic he is helping in medical outreaches in Haiti and Romania.  I thank God for sending Dr. Hines to Mercy Medical.

“From The President,”

This is a note to you written by Team Expansion’s president Doug Lucas.

Thank you for everything you do for the Lord, for Team Expansion, and for your favorite Team Expansion missionary. When we think of II Corinthians 9, we think of you. Verse 9 says that when you help your favorite Team Expansion missionary, you’re creating a righteousness that “endures forever.” Verse 10 promises that God himself will make your wallet bigger so you can be all the more generous. Verse 11 and 12 teach that, as a direct result of your gift, people are finding out about God and giving thanks to Him now for the first times in their lives. Verse 13 teaches that it is through this very missionary giving that we prove ourselves and our faith. Verse 14 points out that your missionaries, together with these new believers, are praying for you — and that’s a fact for which we can personally vouch. Verse 15 ends with Paul giving thanks “for his indescribably gift!” I guess you get the picture. II Cor. 9 is all about *you*! And we appreciate you and the provision of your enabling power to transform communities among unreached people groups and cities. God be praised for your partnership!

November Prayer Points
♦ Praise God with us for the medical providers and volunteers He has sent us. Pray with us that God’s work would continue to be done in the lives of all those who come to Mercy Medical. Pray for daily opportunities to point patients to the Great Physician who provides ultimate healing for every soul.
♦ I mentioned my cousin and supporter Shirley Geiger in previous Prayer Pointers. She is to start chemotherapy later this month.
♦ Please pray that God will lead and be glorified as we trust Him for all our needs.
♦ Please continue to pray for God’s strength, grace, perseverance and direction as I pursue further medical training. My 2-day final for Organic Chemistry will be December 7th and 9th.

November Financial Report
Dear Friends,
Donations have been down. We finished October with a deficit in our General Fund of slightly more than $500 (see below). It would have been considerably worse but two couples stepped up and graciously answered a personal appeal for help. If you are able to send a special gift as we finish out 2010 it would be a huge blessing. Thank you.

Please make checks payable to “Team Expansion.” Email me at cbushnell(@)teamexpansion(dot)org for mailing instructions. All donations are tax-deductible. Thank you!!
