Dear Family and Friends,
“Now all the tax collectors and sinners were coming to hear him. But the Pharisees and the experts in the law were complaining, ‘This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.’ … ‘In the same way, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of God’s angels over one sinner who repents.’” Luke 15:1-2, 10
Have you ever been questioned for being a friend to someone that is not a Christian or possibly someone that has bad habits or is considered undesirable? If not, maybe you should have. Jesus was questioned about those with whom he chose to welcome and eat. Welcoming someone and eating with someone denotes acceptance. How can we hope that they will come to repentance if we can not accept them as a fellow person that struggles with sin? May we live that others will have the opportunity to repent and that there will be rejoicing in heaven.
Please pray for our fellow missionaries in Taiwan as some are going to be returning to the US on home assignment this summer. The Atkins will be returning for their daughter’s, Tabitha, graduation for college. The Pagels will be returning for the summer as well. Please pray as they finish preparations and travel.
Please pray for our teammates Chris & Sam as they continue to look for an apartment and deal with a baby that has colic. Please pray for Dave and Jeanay as they will be leading an “Empowering Relationships” seminar this Thursday and Friday.
Thank you for praying for Philip’s leg. The doctor believes he has a pinched nerve in his back that is causing the leg pain. Please pray that the inflammation will decrease. Thank you for praying for Dean Elmore as he had a stint put in an artery in his heart. Everything went very well.
We are in the midst of packing up our belongings, which means decisions about what is left, sold, given away, or packed to go. We will also be traveling to Nathanael’s graduation on May 4,and we begin our trek back to Taiwan just a few days after that, leaving on May 9th from Indianapolis. We will be visiting with Philip, Bethany, and Juliet for about 6 days before going on to Taiwan. We will also have the opportunity to see John’s cousin, Becky, and her family too. Please pray as we pack things up and begin our travels.
Please pray that we will be find buyers for our van and car soon. We have a 2000 Honda Odyssey and a 2002 Buick Park Avenue. If you would like more information on either vehicle, please call John at 618-553-5175. We need to find a good used van when we get back to Taiwan. The money from these two cars will help us to purchase this van. We still need to raise some additional funds besides.
Thank you for praying.
God Bless,
John & Cheryl
