March 1, 2020 Prayer Note

Dear Family & Friends,

“First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.”  I Timothy 2:1-2

Paul challenges us to pray for everyone, especially those in positions of authority.  He indicates that this is for our best interest.  It is also for the best interest for whomever we pray.  Prayers offered to God have the potential to affect change.  Change can happen for whom the prayer is offered as well as for the one whom offers the prayer.  Often what changes is the heart of the one who offers the prayer.  When we pray for someone our heart is turned toward them.  When we pray for something our hearts are invested in that as well.  God uses this to change our hearts to His perspective.  Pray with us to learn to have God’s perspective on life.

We ask that you continue to pray for Samantha Sanford.  She has not yet had surgery to remove her spleen.  She is seeing a different doctor that is being very careful.  He wants to do additional testing before doing surgery.  Sam’s white blood cell count is higher than earlier, as well as some other numbers.  Please pray for Sam’s health as well as wisdom for her doctor.

Life continues to be affected by the Coronavirus to some extent.  People avoid large crowds inside buildings.  Sports and work conferences are being canceled.  Workers at THoGL are being diligent about disinfecting most areas.  Even so, our kids brought home a stomach bug from school.  Several of them are not feeling very good at this time.  Please continue to pray for everyone’s health.

Please pray for THoGL to find another social worker for the adoption section.  Recently, two social workers left in order to go to Australia for two years on a working holiday.  We were able to hire one new social worker already, but still need another.

Both of us, John & Cheryl, have bible studies that are not growing.  We are asking for prayer for guidance on how we should precede.  Should we continue or is it time to stop these studies and look for other opportunities?  Please pray with us concerning these studies.

Thank you for praying with us.

God Bless,

John & Cheryl
