March 29, 2020 Prayer Note

Dear Family & Friends,

“Why do you call me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and don’t do what I tell you? Everyone who comes to me and listens to my words and puts them into practice—I will show you what he is like: He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep, and laid the foundation on bedrock. When a flood came, the river burst against that house but could not shake it, because it had been well built. But the person who hears and does not put my words into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. When the river burst against that house, it collapsed immediately, and was utterly destroyed!”

Luke 6:46-48

There is a lot to be learned from this parable, but one thing that is helpful to us at this time is the safety that is gained from putting God’s Word to practice.  Jesus provides us with a recipe for life that will certainly sustain us through the storms of life.  It is a life built upon a true relationship with Jesus.  We must draw close to Him, listen, and act.  This requires faith at each step, but in the end it provides a certainty that no matter what happens in this life, our soul is secure with Jesus.  At this time of uncertainty, we can all rely on God’s promises and truth if we have truly built a strong relationship with Him through faith in Jesus.  Pray with us that God will receive glory and honor through all of this from His people and the world.

Thank you for praying for Samantha (Sam) Sanford.  Plans changed a couple of times since everything started with her health situation.  She had surgery on March 18th and was discharged on March 25th.  She has been doing very well after having her spleen, gallbladder, and a swollen lymph node all removed.  It will be this coming Thursday before they receive the results of the biopsies.  Please continue to pray for her recovery as well as the results.

We remain busy with many things at THoGL as well as other things.  We have many rules to follow at this time to try to prevent anyone from getting sick.  So far it is working.  Please pray that all at THoGL stays healthy.

Moriah’s school started online classes again this past Tuesday and will continue for this week as well.  The following week is spring break.  Hopefully, by then it will be easier to have classes at school.  The major reason for the change to online classes is that many college students returned home from overseas during the past two weeks.  This affected both faculty and student families requiring them to be self-quarantined for two weeks.  Please pray for the Morrison Academy senior class as so many of their special activities and sports events have been canceled.  They are missing out on so much.

Please pray for a friend and former missionary to Taiwan, Michael Haggard.  He was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor.  They are waiting for biopsy to be done this coming Tuesday.

Thank you for your prayers.  We are praying for you too.

God Bless,

John & Cheryl
