June 15, 2014 Prayer Note

Dear Family & Friends,

“Do not withhold good from those who need it, when you have the ability to help.  Do not say to your neighbor, ‘Go! Return tomorrow and I will give it,’ when you have it with you at the time.”  Proverbs 3:27-28

These verses always get me thinking especially as I am traveling and see people standing with signs at intersections asking for help, or see homeless people.  We were given the opportunity to help someone this past week.  We did give him some help, but how many times do I not help those that reach out for help.  The help they ask for may not be money, it might be time, wisdom, or patience.  Join us in asking God to give us wisdom to know how to meet the needs of those God puts in our paths this week.

We thank you for the prayers that you have been saying for the discipleship groups in Taiwan.  They do continue to meet.  Su Jen’s husband has taken his first round of chemotherapy for his cancer on his tongue.  He is having a hard time eating.  Her brother, Mr. Tsai, will probably have his sentencing on Monday.  Please keep praying for them as they learn to rely on God during  these struggles.

We ask that you pray for Dana McCain, our field-coordinator, and his family as his brother suddenly died since we arrived in the States.

Thank you for praying for our safe travels and reporting.  The VBS in Newton went well.  The children, teachers, and support staff were all great encouragers.  We were blessed with a great offering as well.  This past Sunday we were able to share with John’s mom’s Sunday School class concerning the work in Taiwan.  This week we were able to visit with John’s family and Cheryl’s family, including Cheryl’s grandparents who live in Centralia, Illinois.  We will be worshipping with Cheryl’s parents this coming Sunday and then reporting at the Keensburg Christian Church on June 22.

Cheryl will be flying back to the west coast with Bethany and the girls on June 21.  Please pray for them to have a safe trip.

We really appreciate your prayers.  Have a wonderful Father’s Day!

God Bless,

John & Cheryl
