July 20, 2014 Prayer Note

Dear Family & Friends,

“For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on the earth is named.  I pray that according to the wealth of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inner person, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, so that, because you have been rooted and grounded in love, you may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and thus to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.  Now to him who by the power that is working within us is able to do far beyond all that we ask or think, to him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”  Ephesians 3:14-21  NET

Paul was concerned with the spiritual growth of those he had helped to enter the family of God, therefore he prayed for them.  He prayed particularly for them to be rooted & to understand the love of Christ.  He believed that experiencing the love of Christ was more important than gaining knowledge.  That is because experiencing unconditional love changes the heart and mind of a person.  Experiencing the love of Christ confirms the knowledge we have of Christ.  We all need to follow Paul’s example of praying for people we know to understand the love Christ.

We have been blessed this summer to see much of our family as well as many of the family of God that are dear to us.  We were blessed last week to attend a family reunion on John’s side.  We were blessed as well to attend the NACC, which is very much like a reunion of the family of God.  We praise God for the blessings of visiting with so many of our family this summer.

The annual Sports and English Camp in Taiwan ended on Saturday.  There were 20 confessions of faith with 8 of them being able to be immersed.  Andrew was also in camp this past week at Oil Belt Christian Service camp with 70 some other ninth graders.  There were 12 decisions for Christ with several being baptized at camp while others are waiting.  There were also 12 decisions to enter into full-time Christian service.  We praise God for all these decisions.

We are excited to share with you that Ellinor’s court date went very smoothly this past Friday.  Her birth mom was present and there were no surprises.  We hope that Ellinor will be with her forever family before too much longer.

We are winding down our home service time.  We will report today at the Woodlawn Christian Church and next week  at the Calumet St. Christian Church.  We apologize for those congregations were unable to visit this summer.  We will make sure that we get to each of your congregations when we return in the summer of 2016.

We will be flying from Indianapolis on July 31st to begin our trek back to Taiwan.  We will stop at Philip and Bethany’s home for a week before continuing on to Taiwan and will arrive back there on August 8th.  We appreciate all the prayers that have been said on our behalf this summer as we have travelled.

Your willingness to pray for our ministry is a great blessing.

God Bless,

John & Cheryl
