September 20, 2015 Prayer Note

Dear Family & Friends,

“The one who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and the one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.  If then you haven’t been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will entrust you with the true riches?”  Luke 16:10-11

The parable of the shrewd steward is hard for many to understand, but this lesson that Jesus brings out at the end has some very obvious applications to our lives.  We must be faithful with what we have received if we expect to receive more.  This is often applied to money and responsibilities.  I believe Jesus makes it plain that He is really interested in our being able to serve Him in the spiritual realm of life.  He gives us money and earthly responsibilities to prepare us to be useful in His kingdom’s work.  We keep praying for a disciple making movement to begin in Taiwan.  We desire for God to use us to begin something big in Taiwan, but it has yet to happen.  This passage makes us consider are we being faithful with the few people He has already given us to disciple?  Are we truly giving them the time, example, and resources that are necessary for them to become true disciples of Christ?  What about you?  Are you being faithful to influence those whom Jesus has given to you to win and disciple?  Pray with us to be better stewards of what we already have responsibility for in the spiritual realm.

We ask that you continue to pray for our discipleship groups to grow both in number and spiritually.  Derik Devires, our co-worker, & Cole Edwards, a co-worker’s son, was able to meet with Kevin this weekend for discipleship.  Other groups will be meeting today and during the week.  Pray that our team is able to train these disciples to lead these groups themselves and to start more disciple groups.

The Dengue Fever outbreak continues to grow in southern Taiwan.  Please pray that God will intervene to stop this disease.  There are now over 10,000 cases with the majority being in Tainan County.  Please pray as for Jing Pen’s health.  She is a lady in one of May Wu’s discipleship groups in Kaohsiung.  She has just been diagnosed with stomach cancer.  Her sister died last spring of colon cancer.  Please pray that through this illness many of her family will come to faith in Christ.

Today John will travel to Kaohsiung for Taiwan Xi En’s board meeting.  The ministry is still waiting to hear the results of the government inspection in August.  Ministry plans must be considered for both the possibility of moving forward immediately with an application to become an adoption agency and with remaining as an orphanage only at this time.  Pray for the board and the ministry staff during this time of waiting and planning.

We have asked for prayers for Lin Wan Ting, Shr Dz Chiang, and their little girls before.  They have had a lot of struggles in their marriage and family.  They live from paycheck to paycheck and are often behind on rent or other bills.  They also have made choices that have hurt their relationship as a couple as well.  They are ready to give up and get a divorce.  We don’t know what will happen to their little girls if they get a divorce.  We need wisdom from God to speak into their lives.  They need to soften their hearts to be able to hear God’s wisdom as well.

We are so grateful for your prayers.

God Bless,

John & Cheryl
