February 26, 2017 Prayer Note

Dear Family & Friends,

“But he said to me, “My grace is enough for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” So then, I will boast most gladly about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may reside in me. Therefore I am content with weaknesses, with insults, with troubles, with persecutions and difficulties for the sake of Christ, for whenever I am weak, then I am strong.”  II Corinthians 12:9-10

When I consider this verse several people come to mind because of the difficult circumstances they live with daily.  What challenges me the most is how some people have learned to express their reliance on God within their circumstances in such a way that honors God and lifts people up instead of lifting themselves up.  Some of us try to hide our difficulties and just press on without ever sharing with anyone our need for the power of Christ to assist us.  The fear is that we might look weak or less significant.  The point Paul makes is that it is about Christ being glorified through our weakness as we learn to rely on Him in the midst of our circumstance.  When we realize that it is not about us, but Him it is much easier to be honest and open for our need of His power in our lives.  Pray with us to have the faith to truly allow Christ to be glorified in our circumstances.

Last week there was a visitor, Miss He, at the Jang home for discipleship group.   She is very traditional Taiwanese in her thinking about spiritual matters.  She is also a very independent person.  She presently has the idea that the Bible is too hard to understand.  Pray that Miss He will choose to return to the group and that she will be willing to allow the Spirit to open her heart and mind.

We ask for prayer for the Sanford family.  They are going to have their 4th child this coming Friday as Sam has a c-section.  Our family will help take care of their three other children for about a week beginning Thursday.  Pray as well for Chris to heal quickly from a scooter accident last week.  His shoulder is very sore and he seemed to have a slight concussion.  Pray for everyone as the new baby arrives.

Thank you for praying for our team as we helped prepare for remodeling at the Home of God’s Love.  Everything went well and a lot was accomplished.  Thank you as well for praying for the ministries that seek help families in crisis.  PSC is going through some staff changes at this time.  Cheryl will be volunteering more while new staff is hired and transitions are made.  Please continue to pray for these ministries.

Thank you for always backing us up with prayer.

God Bless,

John & Cheryl
