May 7, 2020 Prayer Note

Dear Family & Friends,

“For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, so also we believe that God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep as Christians. …

For you know quite well that the day of the Lord will come in the same way as a thief in the night.  Now when they are saying, ‘There is peace and security,’ then sudden destruction comes on them, like labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will surely not escape.”

I Thessalonians 4:14, 5:2-3

As Christians we have many promises in God’s Word that help us through difficult times such as the pandemic.  We know that we will go to be with Jesus if we die.  We have this hope that protects and encourages our hearts in difficult times.  Those who do not know Jesus as Lord do not have this promise, and many have no idea what is in store for them.  They will be caught unaware.  Many people in Taiwan are in this situation.  They feel safe from the virus, but they are at risk of entering a Christ-less eternity.  Whether they die of old age or the Covid-19 the result is the same.  Please join us in praying for the people of Taiwan and the rest of the world to come to a saving relationship with Jesus.

Sam Sanford is at home and growing stronger, but she has had a lot to deal with over the past few weeks.  She had an allergic reaction to one of her medicines and then an infection in an incision.  Praise God her medicine is being changed and her infection is gone!  Please continue to pray for the whole Sanford family.

Please pray for a little boy at The Home of God’s Love, Pei Cheng.  He has been in several foster families and other group facilities.  He was physically abused, so he tends to have fits of rage.  He is better than when he first arrived, but he still will hit children and adults, break things, as well as kick and hit things.  We hope that the love of God can heal his heart and mind.

Moriah has less than a month left of school before graduation.  We recently were able to make contact with her birth mom for the first time in 15 years.  This has brought some joy to Moriah as well as some healing in her heart, but it has also brought some difficulties.  Please pray for our family as we navigate these new waters.

Thank you for your prayers!

God Bless,

John & Cheryl
