For the over 4 million Ibwe* people living in Southeast Asia, their identity is inseparable from the Islamic religion. At the same time, traditional animistic beliefs prevail. These beliefs teach that certain supernatural powers reside in objects such as stones, trees, and mountains. Given that fewer than 1% of their people practice Christianity and their reluctance to mix with other groups, most Ibwe will live their whole lives never hearing the Good New of Jesus Christ.
Team Expansion is launching a project to partner with Bible translators and indigenous missionaries in the area to take the Gospel to the Ibwe.
