Meet Mona, a brave 9-year-old girl who has faced adversity and loss with remarkable strength and resilience. Mona’s village of 300 people was reduced to rubble by an earthquake. She was one of only 10 survivors. Her mother, father and 15 year old brother were killed when their home collapsed on them.
Mona now lives in a makeshift tent in a community of fellow earthquake survivors and refugees. Despite her heartbreaking loss and challenging circumstances, she continues to display remarkable courage and resilience.
Team Expansion’s partners in bringing aid to the region have stepped in to offer their support to Mona. They regularly check in on her, provide her with much-needed assistance, and offer comfort through their prayers. Mona is not alone in her struggle to rebuild her life; she has the compassion and care of her community to help her through these difficult times.
