Ten Days of Prayer for Ten Countries: Pakistan Prayer Fuel
Pakistan is known for its rich cultural heritage and breathtaking natural beauty. Within its borders, you can explore ancient Islamic architecture that highlights centuries of artistry or scaleK2, the second highest mountain in the world. Though today only about one percent of Pakistan’s population identifies as Christian, church history traces the arrival of Christianity in the region to the Apostle Thomas.
Fast Facts:
Unreached people groups: 782
Population: 254 million people, with 79% under the age of 40
Religions: 97% Muslim, 1.4% Hindu, 1% Christian
Persecution: ranked eighth on World Watch List for religious persecution, where blasphemy laws carrying potential death sentences disproportionately target the Christian minority. Beyond legal threats, believers face mob violence, church bombings, home vandalism, systematic job discrimination, and the abduction and forced conversion of Christian children.
Languages: 70+ languages
Literacy rates: averages 60%
Poverty: approximately 45% live below the poverty line
Drug Use: per capita the most heroin addicted country in the world. Reports estimate 6.7 million drug users nationwide. Some sources claim seven hundred drug related deaths each day.
Father, we pray for young people who face trauma, peer influence, and youth unemployment that often leads to drug use. We ask for hearts hungry to search for truth and for spiritual eyes to be opened to the hope of the Gospel.
We pray for persecuted Pakistani believers to have courage and boldness when they face systematic discrimination and disproportionate accusations of blasphemy. We ask Your Holy Spirit to strengthen believers to share with those around them and for a community of believers to encourage one another.
Father, we pray for multilingual Gospel access among Pakistan’s 70+ languages, especially for many who cannot read. We pray for accurate Bible translations, audio resources, online media, and Christ-centered materials addressing addiction and trauma recovery.
