China’s vast expanse stretches from the Himalayan peaks to Pacific coastlines, encompassing deserts, grasslands, and fertile river valleys. This ancient civilization with over 5,000 years of recorded history has given birth to philosophies and traditions that have shaped human thought around the world. Today China is a modern economic powerhouse and a nation where ancient beliefs contrast drastically with rapid technological advancement. Multitudes continue to live with little or no access to the Gospel.

POPULATION: over 1.4 billion people, world’s second largest population
CITIES: the largest are Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou
RELIGIONS: 44.5% non-religious, 31.5% ethnic religions, 12.7% Buddhism, 9.2% Christianity, 2.0% Islam, 0.1% other
PERSECUTION: ranked fifteenth as the government maintains strict control over religious activities through surveillance, registration requirements, and restrictions on church activities. Believers face harassment, detention, and forced closure of churches outside government approved structures.
GOVERNMENT: Xi Jinping is injecting Chinese influence in religious training, literature, and worship by promoting Socialist agenda, even modifying Bible passages.
ETHNIC GROUPS: China has fifty-six officially recognized ethnic groups with 91.1% being Han Chinese and 8.9% various minority ethnicities.
Father, we pray for believers to navigate complex regulations and surveillance systems. We ask Your wisdom for church leaders. We ask Your protection for house churches. We ask Your discerning Spirit in staying faithful to accurate Bible translations despite government pressures.
We pray for the 125+ million people belonging to China’s fifty-five ethnic minorities, many having distinct languages, cultures, and spiritual needs. We ask Your Truth in Biblical authority and Gospel messages. We ask Your Word’s truth to change hearts and minds.

-Thank you for all the Christians shining light in the darkness this Christmas season! There were so many opportunities to share the Gospel, and we pray that the words soak deep into the hearts of those who heard. We pray they believe and follow you.
-Thank you for K and T’s time away to see friends and family and to attend the Behold the Lamb of God concert. It was a blessing to catch up with everyone, including Isabel, who was the first intern to live with us. We ask for blessing over her life in the coming year.
-Thank you for the dreams and visions you give workers in for the glory and advancement of your Kingdom. We know you oversee the plans. Please show workers how to proceed.
-We also lift up a newer van that is available for purchase for KidsLIFE. Transportation is difficult for the refugee families and is a barrier to sharing the Gospel. We boldly ask that you provide for this need. In the Name of Jesus, Amen!
