It’s so encouraging to see God at work, raising up His force for spreading His Good News. Several years ago, He brought Sergio and Marcia to us for a purpose. They are Brazilian, but currently live in Atlanta, Georgia. They wanted to help the people of their homeland but didn’t quite know how. Around that same time, our own Tim Stapleton also agreed to become an advocate and an encourager for the project.
Soon after, the global network known as Finishing the Task asked us to serve as the nexus of a massive effort to send workers to six unengaged (at the time) tribes in Brazil. Through a related foundation, Team Expansion has now received a grant that covers the cost of most of that effort. This past week, another donor just kicked in a $10,000 gift — an amazing boost to make possible the first outreach among the Bobo people.
This is huge; according to the best research available to Finishing the Task, no one has ever tried to learn the Bobo language and share the simple story of Jesus with these people. Isn’t it about time?
Please pray for the other five tribes — the Apiaká, Kalapalo, Koiupanka, Pataxó-Hãhãhãe, and the Tupinamba. Pray for similar “finish-the-task” gifts for each of them. Sergio and Marcia, with Tim’s help, are now thrilled to help launch the work among the Bobo in partnership with their fellow countrymen. This work will all be carried out by new Brazilian workers, with Team Expansion providing coaching and encouragement.
This has never been done before. Please pray for God’s Spirit to go before the entire effort!
