“’For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love for you will not depart from you and the covenant of my peace shall not be removed,’ says the Lord who has compassion on you.” (Isaiah 54:10)

They had come to say goodbye to one of their church members who had recently passed away. What was supposed to be a peaceful gathering ended in bloodshed as militants attacked, mostly with machetes. By the time the militants left Ntoyo village in  eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, seventy Christians were dead and one hundred abducted. The next morning, they struck again, killing thirty more believers camping on their farms. In two days, at least 100+ Christians are dead because they chose to follow Jesus in a region that Islamic extremists want to turn into a caliphate.

Even still, the world hardly acknowledges what is happening. This is what your family in sub-Saharan Africa is facing on any given day. We must break the silence and join our voices with them.

Father, we pray for believers in eastern DRC. We ask Your comfort for grieving hearts as many have lost several family members in these attacks. Father, we ask for Your intervention for the killings to stop. We pray for strength of spirit and heart for those affected. We ask You for calm and peace to reign against the backlash of irate youth in Ntoyo in protest to government lack of protection of body and property.

Team Expansion Worker

Please lift these praises and prayers for LS in North Africa:

Praises:
-School is going well! LS’s role looks quite different this year as she is working one-on-one with a first grade student in the afternoons Mon-Thurs. She is part of a 1st/2nd/3rd class the rest of the time that LS  also assists with some while at school.
-REFIT Classes are also going well! LS is leading one class at school on Monday afternoons and one class at a nearby park on Thursday afternoons. The park class is in coordination with some local believers with the purpose of meeting new people and sharing as opportunities come up.
Prayers:
-Part-time teaching schedule in general and feeling more peace and joy in the day to day. Still figuring out this season. Pray for continued transition and to lean into God.
-There has been a good amount of interest in REFIT Classes with lots of potential for relationship building and sharing opportunities. Pray that believers in the groups would be ready and able to share hope. Pray for the right individuals to take part in the classes.

Pray for More Workers

Lord of the Harvest, we ask You to thrust more workers into Your harvest fields. We pray for catalysts to reach government leaders of the DR and for Your Spirit to transform the hearts of persecutors.
