Nepal (30.7million people) is landlocked nestled in the heart of the Himalayas between China and India. Known for being the birthplace of Buddha and home to Mt. Everest, Nepal attracts spiritual seekers and adventures from around the world. The diverse geography ranges from southern tropical plains to the world’s highest mountain peaks in the north, creating an incredible landscape of cultural and biological diversity.

Religions: 81.7% Hindu, 9% Buddhist, 4.2% Muslim, 3.7% Other, ¼% Christian

Politics: a federal democratic republic, instability with frequent changes in government leadership, affecting economic and social progress.

Challenges: terrain makes transportation and communication difficult; remote and isolated communities. Nepal has regular earthquakes, landslides, flooding that devastates communities and infrastructure.

Persecution: evangelism is forbidden, making it a crime to convert others. Hindu nationalism is a growing threat to Christians in Nepal, with a series of attacks against pastors and churches.

Father, we praise You for being a God of the impossible. We thank You for all You have done and will continue to do in Nepal. We pray for spiritual breakthrough. We ask You to prepare Nepalis’ hearts to receive the Gospel. We ask You to make pathways through the mountains that have drawn spiritual seekers for centuries to become pathways for Your kingdom to advance into every valley and every village.

Father, we pray for remote communities, thousands of isolated villages, and many ethnic groups who remain unreached with the Gospel. Make it possible for Your Word to be heard, to be spread, to multiply disciples.
