Sovereign Father, we pray that Cuban Christianity will also bless the world.
This Caribbean island of eleven million people is one of the world’s few remaining Communist states. With the leadership facing a stagnant economy and an altered geopolitical climate, rapid change in Cuba is a distinct possibility.
Cuba’s Christianity has survived decades of Communist harassment and persecution. Most of Cuba’s Christians are Catholic, though many of these really follow the Cuban spiritist cult, Santeria. Cuban Protestantism has grown quickly since the 1990s, with 9% evangelicals. A few Christians are still imprisoned for their faith but there is freedom of worship. Many small house churches exist throughout the island. Cuba’s musical traditions and skills in health care have been a force for good in the world. Cuba was the first nation to eliminate all transmission of HIV from mother to child and is a leader in immunology. We praise You, Father, for the strongpoints and spiritual blessings You have bestowed on Cuba. We thank You for moving Cuba to a strategic vantage point of sharing the Gospel with the world. The N family in South Asia is exploring more ways to partner with Christian leaders in surveying and reaching out to new people groups and areas in nearby districts. Pray they will keep these as their prayer focus. Ask that they will continue to labor together so that more people find the Living Life. Also, remember to pray for the additions to God’s Kingdom.
Pray for More Workers
Lord of the Harvest, thrust out laborers from Cuba to go into other others lands and peoples like their own background of communism so that others can hear the Gospel and be disciple makers.
