The communist government of a southeast Asian country of nine million people has freed the nation’s economy, but not its politics. Like its neighbor and rival, China, economic growth in this land is transformative, but government still attempts to keep a monopoly on power, leading to persecution for religious groups and political activists. The church is growing quickly among the majority nationals, especially among the mountain tribal peoples.

Father, we pray for the Christian community (about 10% of this mostly Buddhist country) to become a great force for good in a country that has suffered trauma and warfare in recent decades. We pray for an easing of anti-Christian violence and the repeal of unjust laws.
