A story from Tajikistan was told by a visiting worker from a likeminded organization:

“While living in Afghanistan, *Mary and *Zoe met an American doctor who gave Zoe a Bible. Eventually she came to Christ, keeping her decision from her family. Zoe and Mary learned they were to be married to men in the Taliban, so they fled Afghanistan. The Taliban had already killed their father and a brother. In Tajikistan, Mary was suffering with depression, so Zoe began sharing Scripture with her, but not telling her it was from God’s Word. Mary was comforted by the words and insisted on knowing where these ‘sayings’ were coming from. Zoe shared the Bible with Mary, and today Mary is one of the leaders in ministry in Tajikistan. On Christmas Day, 2024, they learned that the Taliban had arrested another brother still in Afghanistan who had also become a believer and a leader of a home fellowship, and he remains in a Taliban prison.”

Father, we praise You for working in the lives of Mary, Zoe, and their brother to draw them to Yourself in miraculous ways! Jesus, we ask You to stand next to the brother in the Taliban prison, strengthening him so that the message will be proclaimed. Jesus, stand next to Mary and Zoe, strengthening their hearts in faith and love for You and for the lost. Father, we thank You for moving and working to change the dreadful circumstances in Central Asia.
