Sorcery or witchcraft is commonly believed in and practiced among all people groups in West Africa. They state that sorcerers live in every village and neighborhood, and people daily seek sorcerers to call upon evil spirits to attack their enemies or seek protection. For example, it is frequently reported that when one wife is jealous of a co-spouse, she will visit a sorcerer to place a curse on her or transform into an evil spirit to torment her. Pray that West Africans will not seek out evil spirits or live in fear of powerful dark forces, but instead they would experience the power of Jesus Christ who alone has authority over all things both physical and spiritual. Pray that people in West Africa would not seek harm for others or be driven to evil practices out of jealousy. Pray that they would instead seek to comfort, encourage, and build others up.
