From a Team Expansion worker serving in Spain:
After 5 months of friendship, I was able to start a 3-thirds group (Discovery Bible Study) with my Moroccan friend, Farah. We read Genesis 1 together and it was wonderful to see how she opened up. She said, “I feel disordered and empty.” We emphasized that it was the word of God who put order in the disorder and emptiness that was there and that it would happen in her life.
The following week Farah got sick. We were in the emergency room twice for her, and we could not have classes or do the 3/3 group, but as soon as she recovered we met and read the Bible again. This time while we were talking, she told me that a friend had told her that when she prayed she did it in her room behind closed doors.
I said, “You know who taught that? It was Jesus!” I looked for my Bible and read Matthew 6:5-13 in Spanish and then I put in the YouVersion application the Bible in Arabic for her to listen. Her face lit up and she herself stopped the reading and commented on what she was hearing. It was a wonderful time when she could hear the words of Jesus in her language, which made the difference.
She said she wanted to ask God as if He was her Father. Remember that in Islam, this is impossible. While I had my Bible open I told her, “Farah this, the Word of God, is the most valuable thing I have and this is what I want to share with you.”
After that, we prayed together and she was very moved. Please pray for our Bible-sharing time, which will be every Wednesday afternoon. May God continue to work in Farah’s life.
