How Does Someone in a Muslim Country Become a Christian? The answer to this question can be multifaceted. Read the story of one man who was recently baptized by missionaries serving in North Africa.

From a Missionary Serving in North Africa

Peter [alias used for security concerns] is a man who lives outside of the capital. He first heard the name of Jesus when he was 12 years old and felt inexplicably attracted to Him.

When his Muslim family read the Koran and prayed, he separated himself from them because he didn’t feel the same spirit and for a long time tried to learn about Jesus in secret.

Years later, while working in a hotel, he asked foreign guests if they could get him a copy of the New Testament. Someone managed to bring him a Bible, but it wasn’t in Arabic, and he felt frustrated because he couldn’t understand it.

Finally, he got connected to us over the internet through the media to movement (m2m) strategy we use in North Africa. It was then that I met with him.  Peter was very happy; he would finally get to learn about Jesus. When I gave him a study Bible, he broke down and told me that it was the best gift that he had received in all his life!

Peter’s Dream

From that moment, we began to study the Bible together, and one day he shared with me a dream that he had in which Jesus was giving him something red to drink and bread to eat. When Peter drank and ate, he felt great joy in his heart. Later, he found himself in Heaven surrounded by many angels and a woman who was dressed like a bride was clutching his hand. Then he woke up.

After telling me his dream, we read several passages about the Lord’s Supper, the sacrifice of Jesus, and the wedding of the Lamb. He was greatly impacted to learn that all his dream was in the Bible.

This month, while he was reading from Acts 8:26-40, the story of Philip and the Ethiopian, he made the decision to be baptized.

During his baptism, he told me that he felt great joy and a strong presence of the Holy Spirit.

We want to ask your prayers for Peter because he has been sharing Jesus with his family, his wife, and his children, and they consider him an infidel for placing his belief in Jesus.

How can we pray?

Will you join us in praying for seekers, like Peter? Pray that they would be connected to a missionary or one of the few fellow believers in their nation and find the answers and fellowship they’ve been hoping for. Pray for dreams; many Muslim believers have dreams that are the catalyst for their journey to Christ. If you’d like to receive daily specific prayers for missionaries and unreached people around the world, join our Prayer Force.
