Overview / Description
A ministry team in Southeast Asia is seeking an Accountant to provide oversight and ensure accuracy in financial reporting. This role is vital for ongoing funding and accountability to donors, as accurate financial reports are essential for non-profit work. The position is primarily remote and can be part-time, with flexible hours depending on the needs of the local staff. Occasional on-site visits are important for building relationships and understanding the local context.
This is an ideal opportunity for a volunteer who wants to contribute their skills to Kingdom work. By encouraging the team and carrying part of the administrative load, the Accountant helps free up the director to focus more on ministry.
Responsibilities
- Review and oversee the team’s accounting in the Zero system (already established and in use).
- Verify payroll for approximately 80 workers.
- Ensure ministry and operational expenses are accurately recorded.
- Identify and question any errors or unclear entries.
- Provide accountability and guidance to maintain correct financial practices.
- Travel to the team in Southeast Asia (on a 7-10 day trip) to build relationships and strengthen oversight.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Ability to understand and work within an established accounting system.
- Strong attention to detail in reviewing payroll and expenses.
- Clear communication skills and willingness to ask clarifying questions.
- Flexibility and willingness to work part-time hours.
- Willingness to travel to a remote setting in Southeast Asia.
