Responsibilities

  • Teaching Spanish Language & Literature
    • Deliver 20-25 Spanish lessons per week, focusing on reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills.
    • Teach students to analyze and interpret Spanish-language literature, including novels, poetry, plays, and essays.
    • Foster critical thinking and analytical writing skills through discussions, essays, and research projects in Spanish.
    • Utilize immersive and interactive teaching methods to enhance language acquisition and cultural appreciation.
    • Design lesson plans that cater to varying proficiency levels, from beginner to advanced students.
  • Classroom Management
    • Establish a structured, respectful, and engaging learning environment that encourages language development.
    • Set and enforce clear expectations to promote active participation and a positive classroom atmosphere.
    • Encourage open discussions, debates, and conversational practice to strengthen students’ fluency and confidence.
  • Collaboration & Professional Development
    • Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary connections and enhance instructional strategies.
    • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and school-wide initiatives.
    • Stay updated on best practices in teaching Spanish language and literature by attending workshops and training programs.
    • Adapt lesson plans and teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Monitoring Student Progress
    • Assess student proficiency through exams, oral presentations, essays, and interactive activities.
    • Provide timely and constructive feedback to support student growth in language skills and literary analysis.
    • Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate regularly with parents regarding academic performance.
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Supervise students during non-classroom activities, such as assemblies, lunch, or study hall, as needed.
    • Support school events, extracurricular activities, and student-led Spanish language or cultural clubs.
    • Perform other duties assigned by the administration to contribute to the overall success of the school.

Qualifications

  • Fluency in English and Spanish
  • Bachelors degree in Education or Spanish is preferred
  • Experience working in teaching Spanish to teenagers is preferred
