LIBRARY MEDIA SPECIALIST IN TAIWAN

JOB DESCRIPTION & QUALIFICATIONS
Responsible To: Principal
Goal: Enable faculty and students to integrate library resources and promote information literacy to enhance student learning.
Duties:

Seek, by personal example, to inspire students and staff in Christian faith and living.

Provide library skills instruction for grades K-3 during regularly scheduled time periods and collaborate with teachers in grades 4-12 on assignments and projects.

Initiate planning activities with the classroom teachers which will support student learning to acquire information literacy.

Collaborate regularly with the Innovation Team (Education Technology Coaches, Learning Coach, and Experiential Learning Coordinator), actively seek to implement innovation and technology initiatives in accordance with the Morrison Technology Plan and the Principal’s priorities.

Follow procedure 205 for selecting, purchasing, and weeding of materials, taking into consideration the curriculum and the needs and interests of the school community.

Create a welcoming and attractive environment.

Share available inter-campus resources with patrons and facilitate reference assistance and reader’s advisory.

Train and supervise library assistants, volunteers and student aides.

Maintain accurate records of the library budget, purchase orders, billing, receipts, etc.

Develop a vision for the library with the administration in developing the library budget, resource allocation, facility development and usage, and library promotion programs.

Actively pursue individual professional development, including participation in conferences, committees, and/or programs.
Qualifications:

Demonstrate a continuing sense of God’s direction in working at Morrison Academy.

Possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree.

Possess or be in pursuit of a Library Science degree and/or specialist certification.

Prefer experience as a Library – Media Specialist.

Prefer classroom teaching experience in language arts.

Fulfill the qualifications for employment established in policy 3110.
Work Requirements:

40 hours per week minimum, based on a 5-day week.

Voluntary involvement in co-curricular activities is encouraged and needed.

Teacher work days as specified on the school calendar. The Principal may require an additional week of work before and one week after the teacher work year. Compensation for these extra days will be calculated on an hourly basis, according to the Temporary Worker’s Wage Schedule, up to 8 hours a day.
