More than 30 years ago, Team Expansion workers planted a church in Venezuela. As members of the church learned the fruitful practices of disciple making, they began making disciples and planting churches throughout Venezuela and then they began sending their own missionaries into the world!
Some of the believers moved first to Morocco and then God brought them to Spain to make disciples there. They were joined in Spain by other experienced disciple makers from Venezuela. In their area of Spain, there are thousands of refugees from North Africa and other Muslim nations. The team is perfectly situated to assist and encourage these Muslim immigrants. They are also working to train and equip the local church to make disciples among Spaniards and refugees.
As native Spanish speakers, the workers hit the ground running when they arrived. They offer Spanish instruction to refugees and help them navigate the new culture and society they are encountering. Two team members are educators and tutor refugee students in science and study skills to help them be successful in school.
Through these valuable services, the missionaries are building relationships with families and engaging in intentional spiritual conversations with many people who are asking big questions about their own culture and beliefs. When they invite these families into their homes, build life and community together, and share the Gospel with clarity, God is breaking down huge barriers one at a time. It’s a long process with many obstacles, conversations, and complications, but God has clearly brought them there for His specific plans and purposes.
There are many needs and opportunities in this area. Learn more and get involved at TeamExpansion.org/jerez.
