From a Team Expansion worker:

I have been studying scripture with Nashly, a 13-year-old girl who is part of the girls’ club that meets at my house. We have talked about Jesus as our pastor, lawyer and other helpful analogies to understand the Gospel. We talked about how Jesus will return and we need to be ready for that day.

After reading Scripture and answering questions, we were almost finished with our study one day when Nashly asked, “What happens when Jesus comes?”

I was a little disappointed that it seemed like she hadn’t remembered anything that we just discussed. I explained again and we concluded our time together. Later I was thinking about it and realized I shouldn’t have been disappointed that she hadn’t listened, but rather excited that she was asking, because that was when something clicked in her head and she was truly curious about the answer. When she asked the question, instead of just being lectured to, she was really listening for the answer.

I realized that I can teach and show Scripture and hope that people listen, but they only remember a little bit of what I say. However, all of the effort that I put in is so that moments like this happen, when something clicks and they start asking their own questions and really listening for the answers.

Pray for Nashly and others who are hearing the Good News and asking deeper questions in Bible studies and small groups all around the world!
