By Chad Rehnberg, Team Expansion Missionary

I had a lot of unlearning to do when DMM (disciple-making movement) training changed my paradigm of addition and helped me understand the how-to’s of multiplication. Traditional mission-work says you disciple one person at a time, adding them to the church one-by-one (addition). Disciple-making movements say you disciple a group of people, teach them how to disciple others, and watch the church grow exponentially (multiplication).

It is simple, but it’s not easy. We have been struggling to get groups started and find the good soil in our neighborhood. But it feels like we are on the verge of seeing something real happen here.

There is so much mystery and adventure in simply hearing from God, obeying what He says, sharing Jesus with others and multiplying disciples. This is not for the faint of heart. You can’t do this halfway. It is non-linear and non-sequential. But it is awesome. It is world-changing. And it works.

Get a taste at www.zumeproject.com and see if this stuff might be for you. We are two years into our learning (or rather, unlearning) process. It’s counterintuitive, but it works. Go slow to go fast. Invest in the few to reach the many. Stop inviting people to come to your church and start training others to be the church. I dare you to try it.

I’m still learning, but I think LISTENING is a big part of the process.

And I feel like the real story is still about to happen.
