From a Team Expansion worker:
3 Visions
In 1984, several people in an unreached village experienced a similar dream. In their common dream, there were three visions.
The first was of a flock of sheep who were gathered together beside their shepherd. Another flock of sheep of a different color were attempting to join the first flock of sheep, and some of them succeeded.
In the second vision, they saw a man coming to their village distributing bread and red water among the people.
In the third vision they saw some of their people going down under water and then coming out again.
Asking the Experts
Being perplexed and discovering that there were others in the village who had the same dream, they set out to discover its meaning. They first consulted with their village Hindu priest. He was unsuccessful and unable to provide an answer even though he had consulted their gods all night.
Next they asked a diviner who, like the priest, was unable to get meaning from any of his usual sources.
He suggested they try a church in town.
Their delegate arrived at the church where a local pastor was preaching. After the service, he followed the pastor around the building.
The village man explained to him the purpose of his visit and told to him the dreams. The pastor asked if he could travel with him to his village to explain the meaning of the dreams.
Explaining the Dream
There was a woman in the village who had come to Christ already. She had seen a dream in which that pastor came to the village bearing the true light. So when he arrived, she told all her neighbors that this man was going to tell them the truth.
The people gathered under a large tree near the entrance to the village where the pastor explained the Gospel of Jesus Christ to them.
He explained the visions to them, identifying the first vision they had seen as Jesus the great shepherd and their people being accepted into the flocks of Christians who had already been converted. He revealed the second and third visions with explanations of the Lord’s supper and baptism.
Discipleship and Baptism
Those who had experienced the dreams conferred. They agreed unanimously that the pastor’s explanation was indeed the true meaning of their visions.
They invited him to return every day and continue teaching them more about the Gospel. He was able to commit to two days a week over the next few months.
One day a few months later, 21 people from the village were baptized into Christ. Their numbers only grew from there.
