As I walked away, I couldn’t shake the weight of what had just happened. This image-bearer of God had sat in that lobby day after day, never knowing the name of Jesus—all the while the very Word of God had been sitting just a few feet away from her. It was clear: access does not equal exposure. The Word of God can be nearby, yet completely unknown, unless someone is willing to speak the name of Jesus.
Anna has been very enthusiastic in handing out the free Bibles and calendars to her friends and family. Almost every week, she will come by and wave to us through the window, holding up either a Bible or a calendar to show us she is taking one to give away.
Many of the local believers who join us don’t have a consistent church they attend, and here they feel safe to explore and discuss the Bible, as well as to share their personal struggles.
