Recently, a generous donor told us a powerful story. In the midst of worship, she heard the question above from the Lord. She responded, “Yes!” God told her that if she wanted to see this, she needed to plant seeds, more specifically, wells. She was reminded of the story of the woman at the well. Jesus ministered to a woman getting water and told her about the Living Water – it reminded her of the stories she had heard from our team in West Africa.
For many years, this team had a desert ministry – they toiled relentlessly but saw no harvest. Then, four years later, God changed everything. In many ways, it began with a well – providing water to a village that previously had to walk miles. That well has become a symbol of the living water that now fills many in that village.
Today, Team Valor has seen 600 baptisms!
This generous donor realized that God was asking her to multiply this fruit. She is seeking others who want to see more wells become streams of living water throughout West Africa.
And she is matching up to $20k in donations to make it happen.
Our team in West Africa has been training a team of local disciple makers. When the wells are built, these local disciple makers will be able to travel to the villages, share the Gospel, and disciple new believers.
In this part of the world, some villagers have to walk for miles to find fresh water. The water table is somewhat low, so wells can cost up to $10k each to dig or drill, encase in concrete, and secure from wild animals. But once it is finished, it provides drinking water as well as household water for an entire village. Would you like to make the difference between life and death for a settlement in West Africa? Keep in mind that the village well becomes a gathering place. In prior villages, these wells have resulted in entire families giving their lives to Christ. Drinking water leads to the Living Water.
