Jumanah was so eager to have one of the English-Arabic New Testaments offered by the school where she studies English that she openly reached for one and took it in full sight of a group of other Arab Muslim women, not caring what they might think. Pray that the Truth revealed to Jumanah in the Word of God will sear her heart and lead her to deny Islam and follow the One who died in her place to pay the penalty for her sins.
Orthodox Islam for many peoples in Aceh is combined with animistic beliefs in spirits and various superstitions. These beliefs center on seeking protection through magic by either appeasing or controlling both good and bad spirits. “But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you; may those who love your salvation always say, ‘The LORD be exalted!’” (Psalm 40:16)
