On Christmas Eve, many Italian families will get together to have a big meal and then go to midnight mass. Many will also open their presents tonight. As the residents of Ancona reflect upon Jesus, God Himself, coming down and being born as a baby, pray that they would be struck by the profound joy of this message. Pray that Italians would not be blinded by food preparations, meals, gifts, and even religious traditions, but rather that they would feel the conviction of the Holy Spirit to draw near to Jesus and worship Him without hypocrisy or legalism. Pray that they would worship Him in spirit and truth, and that many would be transformed by these good tidings of great joy this season.
