“Jesus answered them, ‘Go and tell John what you hear and see: the blind receive their sight and the lame walk, lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised up, and the poor have Good News preached to them.’” (Matthew 11:4-5)
The world is home to 70 million deaf people. Deaf communities are notably unreached by the Gospel as well as isolated from the world. By one estimate, fewer than two million deaf people have encountered the Good News of Jesus. A specific prayer initiative was launched for the Deaf in 2017. After many years of tilling difficult ground, and with early bunches of sweet fruit in our hands, the season of harvest is upon us. Never have cultural, governmental, and spiritual opportunities come together in such a dynamic way for evangelism, discipleship, and inclusion of persons with disabilities worldwide. Praise God for orchestrating these opportunities for such a time as this. Praise God that barriers are tumbling down and people with disabilities are rising to higher roles of influence in societies around the world. Father, give Your global church a vision of the Gospel for every person to welcome and include every sick or disabled person. Pray for renewed strength for every Christian endeavor that serves with and among the sick and disabled.
