Father, we pray that Libya will have rest from war. We pray that believers will be strengthened, protected, and enabled to grow in love and numbers. We ask You for just and compassionate responses to the migrant crisis.
Following the fall of a dictator, Libya has split into warring factions, each financed by oil sales. A combination of military victory of one or more factions, UN action and war-weariness may lead to a type of peace in this state of 6.5 million people.
The public Christian community is largely Coptic Orthodox or Catholic. An underground church of perhaps 1500 Libyans of Muslim background exists in the shadows. A Muslim country, Libya is one of the most dangerous places for anyone to profess faith in Jesus. Extreme Islamist militias are a deadly threat; sympathizers of the Islamic State and national anarchy mean the non-existent state offers no protection to the vulnerable.
Libya is also a transit route for migrants. Thousands have drowned attempting to cross the Mediterranean from Libya. Sea-borne migrants are sent back to Libya where they face brutal incarceration or are sold into slavery.
Team Expansion Worker
RF (International Services) focuses on preparing new workers cross-culturally and providing ongoing training to teams already in place around the world, communicating the whole gospel physically, spiritually, mentally, and socially. RF has traveled and lived in many of the regions where new workers are being sent — Africa, Central America, Europe, the Caribbean, Central, South and Southeast Asia. Please ask God to provide the support RF needs to do this work.
Pray for More Workers
Lord of the Harvest, thrust out more laborers into Your harvest fields. Over three billion people still need to hear the Good News. Father, send out more disciple makers to take a Quest to France or other places in Europe.
