The University of Michigan is underway and workers previously anticipated and prepared for change with a set of challenges for international students, particularly those from China. Workers will be adding more opportunities for mental health and overall wellbeing in recognition of Chinese students under immense pressure and stress stemming from academic demands, social integration, political environment, and complexities of adapting to a new culture. We pray this crucial role will alleviate pressures by fostering supportive relationships and cultivating a keen sense of community among students.
Workers are eager to assist students in shaping a Christian worldview that will guide them as they transition out of university and into a workforce after graduation. Securing work visas and employment in the US increasingly shapes the goals and priorities of Chinese students. We pray this opportunity will help train and equip them to establish simple church communities upon their return to China, empowering them to continue their faith journey in meaningful ways.
