Some of the least-reached people in the world now live a short drive from home. In one of the largest Muslim communities in North America, adults from diaspora families are eager to learn practical English—and just as eager for friendship. Team Expansion has two openings for adult ELL/ESL teachers here: one leading a women’s daytime class, one leading a co-ed evening class. In both, teaching English is the entry point and making disciples who make disciples is the purpose. No teaching background required—a heart for the unreached, a gift for hospitality, and a willingness to learn matter most.
TWO OPENINGS
- Women’s Class (Daytime)
- Prepare and teach practical, conversational English to adult women in a welcoming, culturally respectful women-to-women environment
- Invest in discipleship outside of class time with women and families who want to learn more about Jesus
- Qualified female applicants are especially encouraged to apply
- Co-Ed Class (Evenings)
- Prepare and teach practical, conversational English to a co-ed class of adult learners
- Invest in discipleship with men in the diaspora community, and serve families through practical mercy ministry, including delivering furniture and other needed household items
- Qualified male applicants are especially encouraged to apply
- Couples are encouraged to consider these roles together—one teaching the women’s class, one the evening class
SHARED MINISTRY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Commit approximately 10–20 hours per week to lesson preparation and English-language instruction
- Balance time between English-language instruction and pursuing discipling relationships in a Muslim culture
- Build relationships with students and their families through hospitality, prayer, consistency, and genuine care
- Seek natural opportunities to pray for students, care for their households, and share the hope of Christ
- Work alongside the local ministry team to share the Gospel and foster a disciple-making movement among diaspora communities
- Remain flexible as class schedules, student needs, and ministry opportunities develop
- Participate in Arabic and/or Spanish language acquisition
- Raise and maintain personal ministry financial support
QUALIFICATIONS
- A committed follower of Jesus with a prayerful life and a heart for the unreached
- A desire to see the Gospel shared and to make disciples who make disciples
- Ability to teach practical, conversational English to adult learners
- Willingness to learn and grow in ELL/ESL instruction, adult education, and cross-cultural ministry—no prior teaching background required
- Gifted in hospitality and relationship-building; culturally sensitive, patient, flexible, and teachable
- Ability to create a welcoming, safe, and culturally respectful learning environment
- Ability to collaborate productively with a local ministry team and ministry partners
PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES
- Experience in ELL/ESL, adult education, tutoring, or cross-cultural ministry
- Familiarity with Arabic or Spanish, or prior experience serving in a Muslim context
