Chad & Alicia Edwards and their three children have been in Taiwan since 1996. After investing 16 years in the capital city of Taipei helping establish a house church network, they now reside in Taichung City where they continue to work with a team committed to making disciples who make disciples.
Taiwan is a small island located off the southern coast of China. It has a population of over 23 million people, less that 5% of which claim to be followers of Jesus. The Taiwanese are very spiritual people, worshiping daily in the thousands of temples around the island. Most profess to be Buddhist, Taoist or some kind of combination fold religion (idols) and ancestor worship. Because of Taiwan’s current democracy and healthy economy, money, power and lure of success also are powerful idols that enslave our neighbors and friends.
As a team, we seek to make reproducing disciples by modeling prayer, evangelism, simple, reproducible gatherings and clear methods of discipleship training. We currently have have three main weekly gatherings in our area, along with a handful of smaller groups and one on one discipleship relationships. God has opened up a big door for us to minister to the young generation of Taiwan. Through local school outreach, annual evangelistic summer camps, discipleship video production, social media presence (Path2Hope) and weekly gatherings, we are committed to discipling these young Taiwanese students and seeing them spark a disciple making movement here in Taiwan. We have been truly blessed with amazing prayer and financial partners over the years. Thank you for considering how we can work together to see the name of Jesus lifted up in Taiwan and beyond!
