Do you have a heart for missionaries and a gift for encouragement? What if your listening ear and pastoral care could help global workers and their families thrive where the gospel is least known? We’re looking for a compassionate, Christ-centered individual to walk alongside Team Expansion missionaries, offering prayer, care, and presence when it’s needed most. Care is provided from recruit status through full-time service and beyond. The work is shaped around each missionary’s needs, built on relationships, and coordinated with others in the organization.
This role is available full-time or part-time. The preferred location is Team Expansion’s home office in Louisville, KY. When you apply, please note in the comment field which option you’re interested in.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Raise and maintain a personal prayer and support base.
- Undergird all thoughts and actions with prayer.
- Connect at least monthly with those they are assigned to care for.
- Assess new recruits for field readiness and collaborate with the recruit on a plan of care for optimal health on the field.
- Coordinate the missionary and their family’s care with the Field Supervisor and Third Culture Kid care provider.
- Provide debriefing for missionaries during Home Office Visits, and as needed.
- Make overseas Field Visits as needed.
- Attend Team Expansion’s annual conference, ICOM (International Conference on Missions), and three in-office training weeks, including Link training week, where you’ll meet with new recruits.
- Meet monthly with the Member Care Director for encouragement, prayer, and accountability and to ensure that care efforts are unified and well-coordinated.
The full-time role also includes:
- Attend other trainings and conferences as needed.
- Facilitate church partnerships for the development of missionary care.
- Become a certified provider of the PREP personality assessment.
- Serve on the application committee.
QUALIFICATIONS
- The Member Care Associate will be a Bible believer with a mature worldview, a commitment to the Great Commission, and a devotion to prayer.
- The Member Care Associate should have a deep desire to help missionaries be successful in multiplying disciples who make more disciples.
- The Member Care Associate should possess the ability to listen to and relate with cross-cultural workers.
- The Member Care Associate should display a willingness to continue to grow and learn by taking additional training.
- The Member Care Associate will have a burning compassion for, and deep commitment to, Unreached People Groups.
- The Member Care Associate will possess administrative skills.
EXPECTED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Possess pastoral gifts.
- Feel called to care for missionaries and their families.
- Be knowledgeable or willing to be trained in the basic principles of mental health, including trauma-informed care.
- Display communication skills for interaction with teams, churches, mental health professionals, and others involved in the care of the missionary.
- Must be computer literate.
