Manu did not want the national missionaries in his village. He was the local sorcerer, and the people in his village trusted him. So, when he saw the two men praying through his village, he was angry. Each week when they’d return to pray, he’d chase them out and insist they never return.

One week, instead of going through the village like usual, they came to him directly. They told Manu that God loved him.

Manu looked at them with frustration. Ever since they’d begun praying in his village, his magic wouldn’t work anymore. He had tried everything he could think of, but nothing worked. He had begun to feel sick, turning people away when they came to him for help because he knew he didn’t have any power.

“I believe you are coming from a power bigger than I have.” Manu admitted, defeated.

That day changed everything for Manu. He soaked in the teaching about Jesus. He began inviting others from the village to come in and learn with him in his active pursuit of following God.

Now Manu doesn’t need to chase away the men of God. He introduces them to other villages and opens doors for them to share the Good News in more places. And he doesn’t need his own powers to serve his village; He has the power of the Holy Spirit living in him.
