A Church with a Vision

They had a vision of their church impacting the 30 largest cities in the world in 2018.

In the fall of 2017, Team Expansion was contacted by an outreach minister in California. His lead minister had a vision of their church impacting the 30 largest cities in the world in 2018.

They asked for our help in putting the project together.

I researched the cities and developed profiles and prayer sheets for each city. The church staff began to form partnerships to impact those cities and mobilize the church to participate in offering the “Certainty of Eternity” to people in those cities.

Each church member has a calendar to remind them to pray for a different city each day of the month. And they each have a bracelet with the name of one of the cities on it to remind them to pray intensely for that city during 2018.

In addition, members are giving above and beyond their regular giving to fund projects in each city.

  • The church is working with existing ministry partners to support church work in Lagos and Kinshasa, and provide training for church leaders in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Karachi, and Dhaka.
  • Some church members will participate in “Let’s Start Talking” trips to several cities, including Beijing and Seoul.
  • Church members will also be part of leading Bible studies and planting churches throughout Los Angeles.

Team Expansion’s Vision

We have seen remarkable fruit in areas where DMM principles are put into practice.

Team Expansion was invited to propose projects for some of the cities. Of course, our minds went immediately to disciple making movements (DMM) as we have seen remarkable fruit in areas where DMM principles are put into practice.

We proposed to sponsor DMM trainings in several cities, to equip believers there to make disciples who make disciples who make disciples.

These proposals were on faith, because we had no contacts in some of these cities. But God provided the contacts and brought all the right people together.

During 2018, national ministers and workers in 12 cities will be trained in disciple making and church planting principles and practices by experienced practitioners.

Please join us in praying for the hosts, trainers and trainees in Osaka, Tokyo, Manila, Jakarta, Moscow, Istanbul, Cairo, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Lima, Buenos Aires and Mexico City.

Partnering Together

It is exciting to be a part of the work God is doing in these cities.

It is exciting to be a part of the work God is doing in these cities.

We are partnering with the church on projects in other cities as well.

  • Supporting local Chinese church networks in the training and sending of national workers in the Chinese cities of Shenzhen, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Shanghai and Tianjin.
  • Sponsoring and participating in DMM strategy coordinator training in New York City.
  • Launching a church planting movement in London, and providing workers in Paris with a French translation for Zume, an online discipleship training.
  • Providing workers in Osaka and Tokyo with the Japanese translation of Zume.

Through this project, I have learned a great deal about the 30 largest cities in the world. It is exciting to be a part of the work God is doing in these areas.
